Reproductive Health & Family Planning (RH/FP)

Universal access to reproductive health and family planning (RH/FP) is essential for reducing maternal deaths, empowering women, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. TAConnect works with governments to expand access to modern contraceptives, integrate FP into maternal health services, and strengthen systems to ensure continuity of care.

Our Programs & Interventions

We prioritize postpartum family planning (PPFP), embedding counseling and services within antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care. By aligning FP services with the G-ANC and PNC models, we ensure that women receive timely information and access to methods during the periods when demand is highest.
Our RH/FP interventions are grounded in gender-sensitive approaches. We address barriers such as male opposition, myths and misconceptions, and limited provider skills. Through community engagement, demand-generation strategies, and provider mentoring, we improve awareness, acceptance, and use of family planning methods.
We also strengthen supply chains and referral systems, ensuring that commodities and services are consistently available at the facility and community levels.

Our Impact

Measurable results that demonstrate our commitment to lasting change

25% of postpartum women delivering in facilities adopted a contraceptive method before discharge

Integration of PPFP into G-ANC and PNC platforms across multiple states

Enhanced provider skills and client counseling, leading to better quality and uptake of services

Gender-responsive interventions that reduce stigma and improve acceptance of family planning

Nigeria has one of the highest fertility rates globally and contributes disproportionately to maternal deaths worldwide. Unmet need for family planning remains high, especially postpartum. By embedding RH/FP into existing health service delivery platforms and addressing socio-cultural barriers, TAConnect is helping women make informed choices, reduce risks, and improve the health of families and communities.
