Access to affordable, quality primary healthcare (PHC) is widely recognized as the cornerstone of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). However, persistent challenges such as weak governance, limited human resource capacity, inadequate financing, and poor facility management have hindered PHC facilities from delivering quality, accessible, and sustainable services. These gaps have led to overburdening of secondary and tertiary health facilities and widened health inequities across communities.
Recognizing these challenges, some states (Kano, Nasarawa, Yobe and Lagos) reached out to TAConnect to conduct comprehensive PHC Management Capacity Assessments to provide a deeper understanding of existing gaps and opportunities for strengthening the system.
